I'm going travelling for a few months and wish to purchase a digital camera to take (budget < �250). What is the best type to get, battery-wise?
I currently have one that takes AA batteries but it eats them up quickly and a pair will only last me a couple of days, then again I can easily buy new ones (at expense) and replace them all over the world. Or is it better to get a camera with its own rechargable battery which will last longer but require mains power to recharge (something which I may not encounter for 3 weeks at least)?
If anyone is in the know re. this sort of thing I'd appreciate tips.

the ones with a Li-ion rechargable battery are the best, as they last the longest.
As for what to get, depends what you want. Just one that takes decent pictures, but small and light? Or one that's partially water proof, so you can take underwater pictures while away travelling?
Fuji F10 is a great camera, with good low-light capabilities, and an excellent battery life. Lots of the casios are also great, as are the canons, nikons, and some of the other brands too. If you do go for a Li-ion battery-based camera then I'd definitely recommend buying a spare battery. Maybe a few more if you aren't going to be near a mains power for 3 weeks. Depends how much you think you might use your camera.
Make sure you also have lots and lots of storage too. And ideally several different cards, not just one large one. That way if one goes missing or gets corrupted (unlikely, though), you won't lose all your pictures.

found really cheap battery site www.m-99.co.uk. perhaps answer to get load of rechargable batteries and a solar cell. I got one with about 10 AA in a pack and when my son went back packing he attached same to his bag and had a constant supply of batteries. That we got from www.maplin.co.uk
