As the title says ... what happens if you receive your pay but it's not the full amount? My friend's pay is down by £400! He's obviously going to speak to someone today but in the past, his company have made mistakes before, for example with his pension (took £150 out one month which was way over what he was meant to be paying and took them about 2 months to pay him back). Where does he stand legally? Does he HAVE to wait until next month's pay or could he insist that they pay him ASAP. He's obviously got things to pay out and £400 is quite a lot to be missing!!

He's entitled to pay he has worked for when it's due...is there any reason for this or just a mistake ?
Was it £400 short on his basic pay or was it bonuses or overtime? Does he clock in and out? if so did he do it properly?
Has his tax code changed?

Turns out it was the CSA taking a lot more money out than they should without telling him!! Thank you all anyway!
The payslip should have set out his pay and itemised all the deductions
