I just wondered why they are allowed to pick and choose which operations they will perform
It does not matter now any way ,if they were not confident enough to do it then why should we trust them. Is there a league table or something.

leahbee........LGI never did cardiovascular procedure, they were always done at Killingbeck.....things may have changed recently.
It is the decision of the surgeon as to the advisability of operations and if he turns one down, then it is his prerogative.
There must be league tables somewhere, after all it is a Socialised institutiion, whether or not they are accurate, is quite another matter.

Leahbee, it may be down to the way that operations are funded now, too, it's all changed since 1 April - the hospitals no longer decide what they want to do, it all depends on what the Clinical Commissioning Groups, and the National Commissioning Board, are paying them to do. Health organisations can only do what they have funds and capacity to deliver, and if the healthcare commissioners have paid another hospital, not Leeds GF, to undertake that operation, then Leeds won't have the funds to do it.

What if it wasn't a black or brown man but a white man with tattoos on his face and a ring in his nose. And what if it wasn't you but one of your children. Would you still be careless of appearances.
Lots of ifs'n'ans I know but I want to establish how right-on we are.
