i have just been given a sony vaio vgn-fs195vp laptop-but it has no operating system or an hard disc which is an 80gb could someone tell me what to do now and where to obtain these parts and pieces i am a total novice where computers are concerned and was wondering if it is worth my while to do this machine up or to return it to the person who has given it to me- my other laptop is broken it is a dell latitude d400 but would be too expensive to repair.this worked ok from when i first had it but i prefer the easy way switch on and go rather than being a computer engineer-thank you.

As "fender" said try ebay for an HDD. For an OS check this out (totally FREE!) http:// www. linuxmint. com IMHO superior in everyway than anything that M$ supply (at a cost) You will not believe how fast your old pc can go. As a case in point I use a version of Linux on a laptop of 2000 vintage and it is way faster that my newish desktop running XP
