I HAD 2 change a pain of glass (kitchen window) 4 my mum as it had cracked. I started, as i always do,in the best of d.i.y spirits but after 6 hrs of titting around in the cold wind & rain replacing a rotten window sill & makin another from scratch & scrapes, also trying 2 fix up the last bodge repair it had massacred upon it.(not by me)my spirits were well & truly drained.

I finally got the glass moved into it's new home . 1side puttied up i started tappin in a few panel pins to keep it in place until the next day. Unfortunately all i had to knock the pins in with was a bloody great claw hammer. Job done 'hooray';.... 'but i'll just tap that pin in alittle more'....And yes U guessed it, i put a bloody crack in the new piece.

So my Q is this: Is their any way of stopping this small crack from becoming Pat's arse (a big crack). The window is fixed, it does not open but the back door is next to it & is used constantly.

PLEASE HELP...from tired & emotional

No chance I would think, Vibration from the door and especially expansion-contraction with day heating and night cooling will eventually make the crack travel until it reaches the ultimate end.
Take out the cracked glass it will get worse you could put a dab of mastic onto the frame this will hold the glass in place before you put the putty round
