I have a moral dilemma.

A very good fried is fleecing the benifits system for thousands. He does some serious cash in hand work and only declares about 10,000 of his annual income. He then gets a massive tax rebate and is also claiming 450 a month working families tax credits.

Now this wouldn't be too bad but for the fact that he rams it down my throat at every given opportunity. Every thing is money orientated to him and every time he gets someting new, it has to be bigger and better than everyone else and i'm the first one he phones to tell me about it.

He are also using his disabled mums car which they have through the mobility scheeme. They use this permenantly and it's never used to ferry the mum around as she tends to prefer the bus.

What would you do....maybe i'm just jealous.

After working a night shift, seeing my family get up early and arrive home late from work, this thread makes me feel sick. Do us all a favour and SHOP the B..........

Hi Andyjevs,

Did you shop him yet? What did you decide to do?

Dear andyjevs

The money that your friend is "claiming" is actually hard earned cash of people who DO declare their whole income and pay their taxes due. There are people out there who NEED extra help. Your friend doesn't. He sounds like he is doing well, and still would be if he was not fraudulently claiming. Personally, I would have a serious chat with him and give him the chance to give up NOW. If he doesn't, shop him. Good luck.

Yeah ~ I would like to know what you have decided, andyjevs :o)
Me too, although you would be perfecty entitled to keep this between yourself and your conscience. In any case, I think realistically there would be quite a time lag between your reporting him and anything happening because Benefits Staff are generally pretty stretched and any investigations would take a long time to complete. But if you're still undecided, just look at the tax deductions on your current pay slip and ask yourself if you really mind funding your mate and his fraudulent habits at the expense of your own family.
i work 60 hours a week to pay for all my bills and i have never claimed a penny in benefits of any sort. i'm not so hard done by considering there are people who have to choose between food and heating. guys like him make me angry. please shop him, it's your duty to do so.
It's a tough one mate but I'd just turn a blind eye. I work for HMRC and I know for a fact that you can only work the system for so long before it comes right back and bites you in the ass. So when he does finaly get the old brown envelope through his door you're concience will be clear.
I am on benefits, I am a single parent and at college and I hate benefit cheats! I get really angry at people whining "Oh but you cant live on what you get from the social" RUBBISH! of course you can live on it. You cant buy everything you want or go on holidays and stuff but that's not what it's for! When I qualify I will have a good job and pay enough tax back into the system that has kept me and my son clothed and fed, and am more than happy to do this.
People like your "friend" who steal from the system give everyone on benefits a bad name. We aren't all lazy, thieving scroungers. Shop him now! (er, please)
You sound bitter, maybe it is time to call a day on your so called "friendship", and have friends who have the same principles as yourself.

Don't do anything, please rise above it. You are so much better than him. You know what they say .... easy come, easy go!

I know it's hard I have friends the same as that, I have to struggle on with my little boy while they have holidays and fancy clothes. But I just turn the other cheek (both sets), I would never want to be like that! And neither would you by the sounds of it.

Next time he rams it in your face just tell him "A thank you wouldn't go a miss" after all it is your money that's paying for it.

You need to listen to Gnarls Barclay "Crazy" I don't know why, I just like it and I think you would too.
