erma thomas is a blues & jaz singer. she would be about 85 now and comes from and if alive still lives in new orleans. i understand that she ran her own bar. she never had any hits,although she made a lot of albums. i am looking for an album that had two songs specially written for her. she didnt have a hit with either, but another singer did. the songs are its raining and time. anybody know where i can get this and which album it is on.

Time (is on my side) was Irma Thomas. Later covered by the Rolling Stones amongst others. Not sure of the album you're after. Try track listings on Amazon?

I caught a bit of the recent documentary by Alan Yentob about New Orleans and how the music scene is recovering after the disaster. I wonder if she wasn't featured on that? I know Irma was. Might be worth a look see (definitely if you like jazz).
