Eating in Eastbourne

Why are there no decent cafes / restaurants / coffee shops in Eastbourne? I went there for lunch yesterday and it was awful. There was one cafe which will remain unmentionable - OK it was just filthy and dark and awful. I will be staying in Brighton in future.

OK In A Pickle, I will keep it in mind and look out for you! We only went to Eastbourne because it was a rainy day and we fancied a bus ride out of Brighton over Beachy Head! The problem is, after our encounter in the High Street, we nearly went for a walk across the Head on the way back if you know what I mean ... Cheers !
