At the end of last night's episode what was that thing? The man said - it's a dead ????

I've replayed it several times but can't decipher it.

What he said was "Dinner", I use subtitles. To me it looked like a baby on it's stomach with the legs pulled up.

I can't make it out either, sounds a bit like "dead animal". It looks a bit like a dead cat to me, but it doesn't sound like he's saying cat.

Dinner? Well, well.

It did look gruesome. Thanks for solving the puzzle, Dodger.
He did indeed say 'dinner' and it did look like a burnt baby! Can't make my mind up with this series. Is it clever, or just gruesome for the sake of it? And I get the point about it being dark (literally!) in the police station but really? I think they've gone down the 'Lost' route i.e. making it up as they go along. Can't see another series happening.
I'm not sure about this series at all, I think it's all got too weird and there seems to be a lot more gore and scary weirdos jumping out all the time. The thing that gets me is that supposedly loads of people complained about Ripper Street being to graphic and bloody and it was nowhere near as gory as Whitechapel.

I agree it has got over the top and weird. I still like the main characters and I'll keep watching to find out the source of those footsteps, mould and dripping water.
