Just come across this shocking case and a surprised that it has had little publicity compared to the Rochdale and Oxford cases. Have we become immune to these grooming cases, such that they no longer become newsworthy, or is this particular case missing a certain ingredient?

I just can't comprehend how a guy with a child of their own can do this to another child. What kind of human being are they?
I can't begin to imagine the damage that they have inflicted on this girl mentally and maybe physically. It may be that she went along with what was happening (I was her age once!) but at 13 she is far too young to be able to make a decision such as that she is still a child.
I don't feel that there is a need for national publicity in such cases. We need to know that crimes have been committed but not the smallest details.

Even supposing that what you say is true there Naomi - I don't think the lack of that element suddenly makes it un-newsworthy.

And remeber the verdict was delivered yesterday in the Hutton case which will have pushed a number of cases down the agenda
But yes I do suspect that if it were another case of asian men grooming children it would have been higher up

Why on earth do newspapers and TV reports give the aggregate sentences of the accused? To say that 10 men were given a total of 34 years' jail is as much use as telling us that the total of the highest temperatures of the eight planets is 230ºC. [I don't know if that's spot on.] I don't expect them to give the sentence for each individual, but they could give the longest and the shortest. I think it is done to make us think, "Oh, 34 years! That's a long time, good, that's what they deserve," before you think, "Oh, that's only just over three years each. How pathetic!"
