I mentioned in a previous post that I am about to start Kung Fu. Another ABer (Fsh Kid) gave some sound advice on this martial art. Any other people do Kung Fu? Is it hard? Take up alot of personal time etc etc?

I am very much looking forward to it, just curious to know other people's opinions and experiences

prepare for pain. I do Wu Shu which is a the same thing as kung fu. The training is rigorous and the stretching is intense. You will need good pain tolerance when stretching and holding the stances. you will also ache for about 3 days after the training for the first 2-3 months. After that your muscles will have adapted and you will fing it all quite enjoyable.

however if you are wanted to learn practical self defence try ju-jitsu.

Don't expect to leave the monastery in a hurry, Grasshopper.

You might find that at first, you're simply doing a lot of body conditioning rather than learning technique - so if you want to learn, stick with it. Listen to, and do what your sifu says.

I play Capoeira, If you wanna have it out - I'm up for it! LOL. Laurinha x
