Brothers and other members of their family will have similar DNA whether or not they have the same blood group. That is the basis of DNA paternity tests. Only identical twins will have the same DNA.

One of my nephews was doing DNA research and asked all our family to undertake DNA tests to act as 'guinea pigs' in his study. When the results came through, we were told that my DNA and that of one of my sisters was so similar that if either of us had committed a murder and left DNA evidence at the scene, it would be virtually impossible to convict either one of us. Which is always good to know... ;o)

unless someone witnessed the crime; or you had a motive; or you left finger prints; or you got caught at the scene with a bloody murder weapon in your hand; or there was cctv footage; or your sister had a cast iron aliby and you didn't; or the person you murdered stayed alive long enough to tell someone you did it; or you murdered your sister.

someone i know was convicted on dna evidence, even though the description of the person was completely oppisite, for eg. hair colour, eye colour, age, weight, height, and they have always maintained there innocence, no fingerprints were found a the scene but 2 sets of unmatched prints were, the person has at least 6 siblings that we know of and more that have come to light recently,as the crime happened years ago all work records, phone records, tax records, national insurance records no longer exist so it was impossible to prove where the person was at the time.if what snook says is right then this is a case that should be looked into, what do you think?

There was a case involving identical twins recently in Africa somewher , in which a girl was raped but they could not convict anyone as the DNA was the same!!
