What is the purpose of "Child/small person on Board" stickers?

I cant see any reason why people put them in their cars. Do you change the way you drive if you see one of these stickers??

They originally started in the US as a notice to the emergency services. If you were involved in a bad accident and the parent was comatose/dead, they would know to look in the wreckage for a child. Good idea, you say. Unfortunately, as you say, people over here seem to think you will avoid hitting their car by putting the sign in their window ( similarly 'Show Dogs in Transit', 'Little Person on Board' etc). Of course, they don't take the sign down when they haven't got the 'baby on board', which if it was being used for its original reason, would not help the emergency services. I think they lead rather sad lives if they think this will make any difference, as usually you have to be within about 3 feet to read the sign in the first place!

Thanks for that. I dont really understand the reasoning behind putting them in so emergency services will know to look for a kid. Surely if a car is smashed up so badly they need to look for a sprog, then the sticker probably wouldn't have survived too well either....hmm..

What a wonderful idea these signs are !  Now when I see one I try really hard not to ram the vehicle as is my usual daily practice  as an Advanced Driver !

Question. Why are these vehicles always driven by suicidal maniacs ?

I saw a p*ss-take of this once, someone had a yellow plastic sign with "Cheese and Pickle On Board"... it takes all sorts...

It's those stupid fish that annoy me.

But yes, as with the truck driver I tend to take it to mean that the driver's useless and if you park next to them, you're likely to get your doors dented when they are carelessly opened as the kids the centre of attention.

It asks us to give a wider berth, and allows the user to drive at 70mph while on the phone up the rear end of a learner driver (or so they think)

i see where your all coming from cos alot of the people who have baby on board signs do drive like ***** but then so do alot of people who dont have those signs on they're cars. personally im gonna get 1 of those signs for my car cos i hope it will deter ****** drivers behind from tail gateing me,oh and lastly some people do actually try and drive abit ore carefully when they see they're is a child or baby infront .
