Recorded it a while a go and got round to watching it last night, but the film over ran (as usual!). Saw Jimmy driving Ace's scooter along the top of the cliffs. Does he drive over the edge (the logical ending) or what?

It's years since I seen it but I remember he drives to the edge of the cliff... and by the way it's filmed you could believe over the edge, but he lets the bike ride over the cliff, crashing to the bottom, as the film pans out he's stood on the top.

This has had a lot of debate on the IMDb board. I have included the link.

If you aren't already registered, (and I think you have to be) do so - it's a really useful site to know about

It's interesting what curiosity says because I watched it when it first came out, and have always believed he just rode over the cliff. I never saw it any other way.

Yea, Ludwig it isn't made obvious to the viewer as an end shot or anything, so I can see there's quite a few people under this impression, but as the bike is flimed crashing down the cliff, you are given a bigger picture, and small though he is, he's definately there at the top. Unless it was some man walking his dog! but he definately had the Parker tails on.
ive watched it several times and thought the ending was left open, you see the bike go over and crash onto the rocks but not him, ive never noticed anyone standing on the cliff top after, will look out for it next time its on tv
Don't remember seeing anyone on the cliif's edge after the scooter landed but I always assumed he jumped off before it went over. I assume this because the opening scene of the film is of Jimmy walking alone back up from the cliff's edge as the sun sets behind him i.e. it's retrospective.
you can take that ending both ways.... firstly that he was so upset that it was all coming to an end that he ends it all or secondly (as he's still alive in the pan shot) that he's decided he's gonna grow up and get rid of the scooter and his old ways.....

As Postdog's link and the above comments show, its up to the individual to decide I think. Thanks all for your comments.
