Pickling Onions

Has anyone pickled their onions for Christmas yet? I used to love doing them.

My dad is on the case, he brought a massive bag of onions and will literally do jars of the blooming things in one go - your eyes tear up as soon as you walk in! He will also be doing some with Chilli and Peppercorns which are lovely, until you get near the bottom of the jar where the chilli is so intense that it blows your head off!!!

Yes, i used to buy a red netting sack full!Everyone in my house would cry if they got within 10 paces of me doing them.

Will be doing mine soon and the ones with chilli and peppercorns in are great. I also throw in some mustard seeds too.

I love a pickled onion from the chippy with a fish supper

I dont do them anymore as i have very little eye sight. Funny enough it used to affect everyone in the family within 10 yards of me when i was peeling them but it didnt affect me. I got pleasure from doing them because all the family enjoyed them and i was like a squirrel stacking them away in the cupboards.
my son would come in the kitchen, pinch a few to eat before a meal even! ha!
