Headboard Attached Help Me Up Pole And Handle
7 Answers
My dad needs one of these but it must fit onto the headboard. Small bedroom so no room for freestanding one. I have searched the internet, the only one I found was from Sidhil who do not make this type any longer. Basically its just a curved pole with a handle on it shaped a bit like a wire coathanger so you can grab it and pull yourself up in bed. Any help appreciated, thanks.

I am a retired Occupational Therapist and i can answer this one. They aren't sold because headboards are NOT designed to take the strain and end up breaking and in many cases injuring the user. Please please don't do it.
This kind of thing is better and safer.

My wife uses an Easyleaver by OTS. They also do a "rope ladder" that may be of some interest to you.

If he's in a hospital bed and getting sores, he needs a pressure relieving mattress, go back to whoever supplied the bed and tell them that his skin is breaking down. What do the carers need to do that he has to lift himself?
Actually it sounds like he needs to have his mobility and pressure relief needs reassessed, as i said, go back to whoever supplied the bed, or district nurses or GP

in the UK those are called monkey poles. They should be available from the same place the bed came from without having to buy one, assuming that you didn't buy the bed. Some hospital beds are fitted, or can be fitted with one that is specially designed for the bed, again talk to whoever you got the bed from before you buy. As I said, please get proper advice though as bedsores and friction blisters are the devil to heal in people who spend much or all of their time in bed, the proper mattress will help to heal them and prevent recurrence.
