Racism was the avowed motive - pure and simple

I'd agree with that, although there must be some predisposition to murderous behaviour and a series of triggers

there's also a rich seam of perverse irony here - an Eastern European, not of the benefit scrounging illegal class, coming here to bomb and murder muslims, who are pretty unpopular in some quarters, and an elderly one to boot.
