can any 1 tell me what type of hard drive i can use to fit into my ps2, and what program is used to store and load games on it

The software you need is called HDAdvance (http://www.hdadvanceuk.com/hdadvanceuk/)

You will also need a network adaptor if you have an old style PS2 (otherwise use USB).

You can use pretty much any IDE Drive, if you want to be 100% sure though check out this site - http://forum.hdadvance.com/hd_advance_compatibility.asp
