20 Answers
Hello Sqad,
Not sure if you will know but could you tell me what the highest recommended does for Omeprazole is please. Currently taking it due to high acid production and reflux and have recently upped my dosage as instructed and am now having some very strange side effects. I am concerned I am taking too much.
Thanks in advance
GF

Going from what I remember about our Dr Sqad, he sometimes doesn't come on here at night as he usually does his rounds with the unfortunate lovely biddies of his home island of Menorca......He's a morning man......so you've got Dr Yogi ( Bachelor of Fiddling About Alot )......so, I've found this ( LINK Below ) on the net ( If you look under Increased Stomach Secretions ) it says the dosage, BUT it mentions to FIRST of all consult your doctor about it, so that's what I would do, in the morning, GF.
Hoping your acid reflux gets much better soon :0) x

If this happens mostly when you are in bed, try 2 teaspoons of cider vinegar with same or more of honey, dissolved in a little warm water beforehand, It may not completely cure, but it will likely reduce your acid reflux. Also check if you have 'lactose intolerance', by cutting out all dairy products for a day or two.
I do indeed. He's on my speed dial. Thanks guys. I am taking the high dose due to a Hernia, I am waiting to have a procedure done to measure my acid output but have been told it is unlikely I will be allowed surgery to fix the hernia and seeing as I was still getting reflux on 80mg a day the gastro told me to double it. Felt odd yesterday and today feel very odd indeed.
Googling unfortunately just tells me that my side effects are very rare and I should get medical attention. Which is slightly worrying but I will wait to speak to the doc tomorrow as I don't think it is too serious.

I'm sure you're tried all sorts if that bad but I find propping myself up in bed definitely helps.
I still had issues on 80mg (though additional complication for me in it increasing as a side effect of arthritis meds) so have Gaviscon on standby which has helped.
On the dairy thing, I'm not lactose intolerant, my consultant had me tested, though - and bearing in mind my issues are more than just reflux issues - the latest idea my dietician had was to cut out cow's milk and I have to say things have been better. I'm in two minds though as I still have issues with fat and part of me wonders if cutting down dairy has also incidentally cut down fat but we shall see.
Let us know how you get on. Hope the side effects subside soon.

That's a shame, I have resorted to swigging it out of the bottle at times! :)
I'm bracing myself at the moment, was taken off my arthritis meds as my liver blood tests shot up and only just gone back to normal and back on the meds from tomorrow, sooo not looking forward to going through all the side effects again! Got back down to 40mg a day while off, hoping it will be nicer to me this time! I asked my gastro if there was anything else which could help when on the 80mg, Gaviscon and anti sickness meds and still having issues but he just shook his head at me.
