Double Glazing

Hi , can anyone tell me when you have replacement double glazed units fitted , should the company replace the rubber seal ( I am told this is called gasket ) ? The company I employed used my 25 yr old sealer which is ill fitting and brittle .

Once the gasket is taken out it is rendered practically useless,I would get them back and make them refit with new.

They sound like cowboys - get them back to do the job properly.

You're right Lin, but I can maybe see why this has happened.
I guess you have had replacement glazing only ......... installed in existing windows?

Was it a glazing company that you had, as opposed to a upvc window company? A regular glazing Co. might not have the gaskets for all uPVC windows they come across.
I agree they should be geared up for these eventualities. Glazing is only as good as the gasket.
