Gogarburn near Edinburgh...tone...there were folks in there that had been sent as children because they were orphans...and also some that had been sent by courts...murderers thieves...criminally insane....all sorts scary.....closed now....

In the seventies - all the Hospitals looked like that
brings back memories

The thing that emptied the asylums
rather than a change of heart
was a droog called chlorpromazine (Largactil)
which calmed disturbed patients enough to start er treatment in the community

[whether or not we privately think that care iin the community is really 'lack of care in the community' ]
