People theses days are more concerned with what others think of them than with what they themselves think. The cult of self has been sublimated to the cult of PC. Another sacrifice on the alter of conformity. People are now just robots thrashing around to a tuneless dirge of PCness. Shame!
me ////Shame they can't resist putting their spin on it to make it about something it isn't. ///
aog //And what spin might that be, tell me if I am wrong, but wasn't it Leyla Hussein who put the political correctness spin on it? //
Maybe she originated it (unclear because I wouldn't trust their interpretation of what she said anyway), but they jumped on it with glee and made a headline out of it because it supports their existing anti-PC stance. If she hadn't said it, it probably wouldn't be in the paper.
I think the real story, and what they should be asking is 'Isn't it terrible that people are so bl00dy ignorant about this issue that they'll sign a petition supporting it" rather than "Isn't it terrible that the all-pervading culture of PC makes people sign petitions like this".
There's a valid point about the corrupting influence of PC, but I don't think this story supports it. As I said, I think this is more about ignorance.
