Hi I’ve been doing some double checking on ancestry and have come across something that has puzzled me. On some trees other people have put a number instead of a location; can anyone tell me where I can get the location that the number represents please? (ie Location 1670719, Lincolnshire, England)

Ah! a batch number, why didn't i think of that?! thanks DJ, I'll check it out.
Question Author
Oh dear, nope, not a batch number on either the old Hugh Wallis LDS or the new Archer Software on Family Search.
I've seen them so often myself and I know I know what they are but I can't find an example now, can you give me a clue to one and i'll look again.

Hi DJ thanks for helping, I’m the same, I’m sure I’ve had it explained to me before but?!?! Examples are Robert Wilkinson Birth 1745 in 1670719, Lincolnshire, England and Peter Wilkinson Birth 1715 in 1670703, Lincolnshire, England. The majority of the other Wilkinson’s are from Walesby if that’s a help.
I think they are the number the person has been allocated in the database on ancestry after the trees have been submitted for public viewing, many of them will be LDS member trees of course. It's not the same as changing the access on your tree on ancestry from private to public i don't think, these codes are for an actual database that was available on ancestry from the LDS church archive of submitted trees, at least that's my take on it,

Thanks for your time and help DJ it does sound vaguely familiar, looks like I’m going to have to contact the tree owner if I want to find the place name! I would love to keep my tree private but as I share Ancestry with my friend and she wants to keep hers public I have to go along with what she wants as she pays the lions share. It really gets my goat when others just assume someone on my tree belongs to them and adds them to their tree without checking! But that is a whole other subject lol.
