Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

plumbj01 Perhaps you (like me) didn't quite follow the logic behind RECONDITE? - which means "hidden; obscure; etc" = difficult to understand.

The key thereafter is "on-dit" which comes from the French for "rumour; hearsay". (new to me)

So - RE = "concerning; about" then CE = "Church of England" containing "rumour". The bit "likely to depreciate" seems to me to be redundant - unless someone else knows differently!

I just thought that if you knew all that then you wouldn't need to have used AnswerBank! Cheers!!

What an odd clue... I agree with your breakdown, Crofter, but so many redundant words (a particular bete noir of mine!). Not only 'likely to depreciate' but also 'problems'. If it's just to aid surface reading, it's way over the top.

Problems and Likely to depreciate were not part of the clue, so you're right to flag them as redundant words!

I think the latter phrase cropped up in Saturday's DT as part of a clue that had my mother asking for help - the answer was CYNICAL
