>>>if that was Epsom, it was probably still £100 a night
I wasn't paying, Jno. (The company I contract for had booked it). But I seem to recall that the invoice was for around £55 or £60 per night which included 'continental breakfast' meaning nothing more than cornflakes! (I'm also still wondering how, if someone actually changes the sheets on a bed, they can possibly miss the screwed-up fag packet on the threadbare carpet just 1" under the edge of the bed!).
By contrast, the
very best accommodation I've ever stayed in (including some very plush places charging over £150 per night) charged just £35 per night, including complimentary wine in the room, for the comfiest bed I've ever slept in, with a superb breakfast choice (such as scrambled eggs with smoked salmon) and every possible luxury. (There were several dozen types of luxury shower gels, shampoos and body lotions in the bathroom!):

(I can't even find a TripAdvisor listing for that dump in Epsom. It's that bad! However, if you're ever that way, the place to avoid is the Epsom Lodge B&B).
