Rating your own responses to your Questions

A question was raised in 'News' today about eejits and arrogant people rating their own reply.

Now I did hold my hands up and say I have been guilty- but only for a laugh and I would certainly never demean a serious topic by doing this.

When were we able to do this - because I have just been taking advantage - none more so when my keyboards had far too much to drink on Saturday(.I think most got the joke though:)

Perhaps the techies should have a wee look at this apparent anomoly as the ABer concerned wasnt happy and perhaps there might be others out there who dont see the funny side.

Well, vinny and shaneystar, as i have said, I never once said I was 'unchilled' about this, I really don't care about stars - i was just making and observation and that i think its a bit weird.

Why do you automatically assume I am sitting at my laptop, blood boiling and angry about this?
It took me all of about 10 seconds to post...and another 10 to forget it.

drisdgirl has so far posted 4 similar replies to the original question and has now even posted her own question, so i don't think i am the one who is preoccupied with this

i accept as she said it was supposed to be a bit of fun, but lots of others do it on serious issues and when its isn't fun - its their sad little attempt to "win" over the people who disagree with them - they are the sad ones.

i really couldn't care less - rate yourselves away - i just observe...

p.s can i have 3 pretty stars please...

joko - you were quite right to make that observation.I'm not pre-occupied but I can see how it could be abused and hence the reason I held my hands up as guilty.

I did want to say however that I wouldnt post on a serious issue or detract from a point someone was endeavouring to make.

I posted on AB Suggs because you shoudlnt be able to rate your answers and I cant remember being able to do this until I noticed a few weeks ago.I would rather you couldnt do it because as you quite rightly said it does detract from genuine starring - and fools like me (even just for a laugh) will continue to use it if its there.

Drisgirl you just go ahead and give yourself as many stars as you like. It's nobody else's business (though as it's public other people may notice). No prizes are awarded for annual star collection, so you're not cheating anyone. Enjoy!

I cant speak so I enjoy being on AB.I suppose Gobbectomy is a crude definition.Didnt even have to rely on the NHS - I blame Scotland gubbing the English on Saturday:)

I always try to rate my own replies with glee , immense enthusiasm and blatant disregard for the quality of the content but I shall stop doing it now.

Dot - thanks for your support - I, like you thought it was funny but others didnt so thats why I posted this.Its way too serious and nasty on here sometimes and I just want a bit of fun at times.Dont give it up because I've decided until its taken away I'll still do it - after all I havent killed anyone or hidden behind my user name to hurt anyone - its trivial in other words:)
