Name that shrub

I am trying to find the name of a large evergreen shrub which grows on Mediterranean islands with small glossy leaves and pink/purple berries. The Greeks call it skinnia (sounds like). It is not skimmia. Does anyone know the Latin or English name? Thanks.

Thank you logman, but I do not think it is plumbago. The leaves are more like myrtle. I will have to wait to see what colour the flowers are.
