For best effect should one have them before or after the full English? The first illustration in the Mail article shows Peanuts. Are they really nuts?

Peanuts are beans, not nuts.

As part of my low-fat diet, I'm exhorted to have all sorts of seeds, and walnuts. Walnuts seem to be the best. My theory is to eat them instead of a Wispa Gold, but.....

The thing with nuts is that they're quite affordable if you buy them in a big enough bag... but if you're anything like me you'll eat them in one sitting regardless of quantity... and to buy them in a small bag is very expensive.

I'd just stick to the Full English Sandy.

Aldi are selling pistachios in their Christmas stuff at £2 a bag at the moment, good value.

Ironically, around here walnut trees grow like weeds and if you want some you can pick them up from thhe side of the road or someone with a walnut tree will give you a bucketful just to help clear ther garden. And yet they sell imported walnuts in the supermarkets.

jomifl, my friend garnered some windfall walnuts a couple of weeks ago, from a tree in the park. They were really delicious, still juicy and walnut-oily.

Boxy, Fresh walnuts are so different from the old ones sold in shops that they are barely recognisable as walnuts, excellent in salad.

After all those wallnuts have been shucked what happens to the shells? With a wood burning stove and a plentiful supply one could live in pleasant warmth without spending a penny.

You are quite correct my experience with having 2 walnut trees suggests the the shells from the entire crop from 1 tree could heat an entire room for 1 hour entirely.
