I just sold something on ebay. The automatic message said that funds will be in my paypal account on 5th december. Is that normal? It seems an awfully long time away - I thought I would be posting the item in the next few working days

Did the post your recieved happen to mention payment via a Cashier's Check or Bank Draft (or whatever they call it in your part of the world)? In other words, the usual quick payment method is subverted, which is the reason I stipulate in my listings payment via PayPal only, SJ.

Having said that, you'll recieve yet another message from e-Bay indicating payment clearnace and it's now Ok to ship the item... (you haven't shipped it yet, have you?)

Well I stated payment by cheque or Paypal so maybe it was a default cheque message. I now have another message saying I have been paid so not sure. I can't access Paypal as I'm not home at the mo. No Clanad - I havent posted it. I couldn't anyway as I'm stuck on your shores at the mo. We diverted last night due to a leading edge flaps motor
Called "slats", back in the day... pesky critters!

I've only ever had problems with Ebay payment when it was outside of the PayPal avenue, so I just eliminate the problem by using only PayPal...
Good luck!

Thanks. I've had a message from the buyer askin if I can delay sending it until after a certain date because she's not there which suits me because I won't be either. I'm sure it'll be clearer when I get home (eventually)

Just for the record I found out what this is. Apparently Paypal hold onto your money for 3 weeks until you establish a selling history. I can`t think why as I have used them before but not for about 5 years but hey ho, that`s what they do.
It's the 21 day hold PP put on some payments
Funds will be released once your buyer has left you FB
You're a new seller?
And it's not a new thing either - it's been in place for years
It could be an echeque they take 10 working days to clear.
that would make it 24th Nov, not 5th December
5th Dec is 21 days, hence the 21 day hold with PP for new sellers
