Problems With Kobo Wireless Ereader

Hi,my mother's Kobo has frozen on the 'Kobo Read On' screen! I switched on the wireless on it yesterday & was immediately asked to update the software, so did this. After the software was updated a 'wait one moment' message appeared on the screen, which stayed on the screen for 3 hours. Then the screen message ' Kobo Read On' appeared & is still on the screen a day later! I have tried to turn it on by pressing the power button, but the Kobo stays frozen on the 'Read On' message screen! I have attempted to
reset it by pushing a paperclip in the reset button & holding the power button, but nothing happens! The Kobo was fully charged before it froze, so it does not need to be charged! Is there anything else that I can try ? Thanks.

I have experienced exactly the same problem today after following the instructions to update the software. Going to the Kobo web site was useless as it suggested a factory reset by going to the menu when the problem is being stuck at the read oninitial display.
