Does anyone know of any counselling/support groups helping people who have been dismissed at work?

No, I have not heard of such an organisation. Would the nature of the group depend on the nature of the dismissal and the reason behind it? What sort of purpose might this group serve?
Yes, they are called 'Job Centres'.

Thanks Boxtops. It would be a group to help people who have been dismissed deal and heal with the psychological damage of being fired.
You can only be 'fired' or dismissed for Gross misconduct, you would have had the chance to answer the allegations
There is the Employment tribunal if you have a case for unfair dismissal .
I don't see where you are coming from on this, someone can only be dismissed as I said for doing something that constitutes gross misconduct, why would you need help?
I was serious about job centres, they have counsellors whose job it is to get people back to work and help them overcome any problems they have in getting another job.
because it's bloody awful to be sacked eddie, that's why!
