It all depends on if and when you had sex, but yes, if you "missed a few pills" while having unprotected sex it's entirely possible you are pregnant.

I suggest you do a pregnancy test anyway, and if in any doubt whatsoever see your doctor.

It might be worth making an appointment with your GP or family planning clinic anyway to discuss other methods of contraception that might suit you better - a lot of people use the implant or injections now which saves having to remember pills!

Also, different methods of contraception affect people differently, but I was on the injection for a few years and wouldn't recommend it. I know the idea is that it stops you getting pregnant but it took away any desire to even practice!

Its not generally advisable to test until the day your period is due so I think you were maybe a bit premature with the testing. I would repeat the test.
