Household Flooring

What floorings do you have through your house and how happy are you with your choice?

If you had the option would you have something different with the benefit of hindsight?

I'm having to make some decisions and opinions are appreciated.

Ryalux Berber throughout except bathrooms and loos where soft vinyl and sealed skirtings.

Carpet throughout except for kitchen/diner where I put Karndean down last year....well worth the cost as it's really easy to keep clean, especially when I've been cooking.

We have just done downstairs. We went for carpet in the lounge, as warm and comfortable.

We compromised in the porch, hall and downstairs toilet and have a vinyl that looks like laminate. It is easy to clean, cheaper than wood, waterproof, better-fitting (to cut around toilet), but everyone who's been in has thought it was wood. Love it!

Carpets upstairs and on stairs, as comfortable and warm. Bathroom and kitchen are vinyl.

Both of my neighbours have wooden flooring and when they move about it sounds as if they are in my house! Hate it.

We have just done our livingroom and diningroom in a lovely cream carpet. not very practical I know but it looks lovely and it is warm and quiet. We put down Amtico(woodplank design) in our kitchen and back porchway 18 months ago and it is still looking as good as new. Amtico and Karndean are both good flooring to have and if any of the flooring gets damaged it's easy to repair the damaged plank/tile. We have all carpet upstairs and hall and landing and vinyl in the bathroom. I love how wooden flooring looks but I'm not sure I would want to live with it myself. My fiance is a flooring contractor so we know the pros and cons of most materials.

I've lifted a lot of our carpets and we are down to the original 1860 floorboards with plenty of rugs. Carpet in the bedroom, vinyl floors downstairs in the kitchen and in the bathroom. Nothing on the stairs at all, we've painted the treads white, right up through the house - amazing how much lighter it makes our dark stairwells.

I've had wooden stairs in a previous home but am not sure I want it again.

Do you not find it noisy Boxtops?
