has anyone use "optimiser" and "accelerator programs" that claim to speed up you pc - any good or just a gimmick?

Useless in my opinion - 99% problay have spyware or viruses. Intel do do one, but i found no gain in performance at all. Personally, i wouldnt trust these programs that claim to "quadruple your computer speed" or "triple you internet connection".

hmm.

anything that claims to accelerate performance is 99.99999% dodgy.

A download accellerator can work, to some degree, but still, will probably be packed with spyware. Wouldn't bother, personally

thanks for info- confirming what i have been told- however i used indigon pc accelerator only because it was on a magazine covermount and hence i trusted it- so get rid?

I just googled "indigon" there aren't any sites for me to look it up on! So I can only assume it a load of toss..

But, It all depends what it claims to do. Possibly it just prevents certain system tasks running to free up resources - to be honest, ditch it, if you want a little extra performance - buy a bigger ramstick ;0)

What about google web accelerator? surely google are reputable?
