Electricity Breaker

Electrician needs to install an electric breaker, those units that cut off if theres an overload or dodgy fitting. To fit this, he needs to swith off the old mains but cant as theres a tie on the meter ? Has this job only to by done by Electricity Board ?

No need to touch the meter, Tambo. He should just pull the cut-out. That's the big 100amp fuse where the supply comes in. It still means cutting the wire seals though. It's done all the time. Officially, you're not supposed to touch them, but as suppliers are too tight to fit isolators, then we just get on with it. It can be done "live" but is not good practice. If...

If you had to faff about waiting for the Company to do it, it might take some time.......... and cost.
