A study, confirming what most of us know already, has found men and women are wired differently.

Now I know this will upset the right-on brigade, especially the feminist ones, but before you fire off a 'Attack YMB post' the study goes on to say women can multi task better, so each sex has pro's.

Maybe this is why women are statistically safer drivers. Of course the great EU ignores this and has clobbered women with higher insurance. will they change their minds in the light of evidence or should playing the right-on card take precedence over fact?

It certainly does put paid the the 'men and women are the same' rhetoric though.

Having taught map/chart reading and navigation I found that few women joined the classes but some who did were superb navigators. Have reached the conclusion that all females have the potential to learn map reading except Madam S, who is however highly skilled at passing the mints when we drive.
My wife asked me to do something .I replied that I could not because I was on the phone . I could not do two things at once. This received the crushing reply "You have never been a mother!"

Women are born to be mothers. Mothers have to multi-task. And men do see things in terms of conflict and threat. If the other person is no threat, they pass. But it ends there. Women are constantly looking for little signals to what other people are thinking; this may be an extension of caring for children who can't express feelings well. And all women are sisters. I have left female friends with complete strangers who are women, for ten minutes. On my return every time my friend has established the family life, the worries and hopes, and what the person thinks of their partner. No man can do that nor would he wish to.
That is very true, Fred :-)
It was personal observation ummm (and even now surprises me) but I find that Kipling noticed it, many years ago : "The Colonel's lady and Judy O'Grady are sisters under the skin"
Its good though in that men can give you their undivided attention..not complaining.

I hate maps & hate sat navs but I can almost get places by instinct - (I know) I do get lost from time to time! I have to do a large sketch of the route in different colours - i takes a strong coffee and felt tips. (I think there's something wrong with me as I go through alot of paper) and I do feel abit awkward about it. I get -Are you sure you know where you're going? No I'm not sure but I like so leave me alone. If roadworks then I'm at the mercy of pot luck but I have always been like this and men! are always helpful re directions. I meet alot of men this way! I accept its nightmare behaviour but I dont care because I am useless doing anything else.
I can put make up on while driving aswell - eyemake-up abit tricky but you can do it..

Women are excellent at stating the obvious, it seems.

I hope you are never driving towards me whilst applying makeup, believe me I'll have you in the local nick so fast your feet wont touch the floor.
