Very stormy here last night. Trees down everywhere, came across a squashed car this morning on the way to drop #1 daughter at nursery.

Hope everyone is still in one piece?

Should we build an ark?

xx

The wind had me up all night as well, but a couple of alka-seltzers soon sorted it out.

heard on the Scottish News at lunchtime that a lorry driver was killed :-(

Also, 2 people in Intensive Care.

Worst here was a tree down. No injuries.

Storm heading South, not good at all.
Hope everyone stays safe xx
Hanging on to my hat over here in the east. 9,000 homes evacuated on the coast in anticipation of the high tide this evening but thankfully i'm safely inland. All calm at the moment to be honest, but we'll see what happens later.

That's not good news, alba.

Yes I too hope everyone stays safe x
Not too bad here in Buckinghamshire. Just a few recycling sacks have been blowing about.

Everything portable now upstairs, settees across dining table except small one we're using, oven out of housing and on worktop, I only came out of hospital Monday night, I don't really need this atm :-(
You can send me some East Aid Zacs ..lol.
It's supposed to get very hairy here tonight ! Tidal surge expected at about 22.30 hours .People are being evacuted from low lying areas .Lots of places below sea level here .Panic stations on the local news.Luckily although we're on the very easterly edge of Norfolk ,we are high up from the river and sea.
Baldric are you near coast or river ?
I think it was 20-25 thousand folk in Scotland without power.

Woman is shop told me this morning her sister lives near Fort William, and is without power.

No power, no gas central heating.

When you think of the typhoons and hurricanes which affect hundred of thousands, in other countries, we've only had a slight breeze, however, this has left a few families bereft and devastated.

Baldric, sounds like you're well prepared. I really hope it doesn't come to anything serious.

alba, I think the figure is sitting at 80,000 without power according to SSE.

My mum is ensconced on my couch watching Cebeebies with #1 as she has no power at home.

Batten down the hatches everyone. Stay safe. xx

Hi minty, it's one of our rentals in Sandwich, River Stour one side, Coast the other, main home 20 miles away should be ok.
dear lawd Balders, are you OK?
Hospital? Hope you are soon on the mend xx
jeepers, 80,000 now? The Engineers who are doing their utmost deserve a medal.

Balders, fingers crossed that all will be OK.

I prefer 'they' err on the side of caution in waring folks about tide surges etc.

Alba, yeh, am "pushing" recovery a bit I suppose, but needs must,
(see end of Tuesdays GMEBs thread for a few details)
sorry to hear you've been "in", bapdick - hope you are OK..... Wise to be prepared in Sandwich, the predictions on the lunchtime news were a bit scary for Norfolk and the Kent coast :-(
Doesn't sound good baldric...at least your own home will be safe ! You really should be home resting !

I do feel for the engineers trying to get the power back on, outside in this weather.

Pretty black outside now, more snow on the way.
