deleting dropdown box???

when I doubleclick the search box on internet all of my previous queries drop down. now Ive got hundreds. how do I get rid of them? Ive tried internet options but no joy.

You're looking in the address bar of Internet Explorer? If so, then Tools -> Internet Option -> Clear History should do it for you.

If it's a separate toolbar, there should be an option to clear search history, e.g. with the Google Toolbar, you click the Google logo next to the search box and choose "Clear Search History"

Double click on the box (with nothing entered into it) and hover the mouse above the first entry which appears. Now hold the delete key until all the entries have disappeared.
