hi, i claimed ppi from blackhorse in february this year and after many many letters sent to them, they even lost the bank statements requested twice, finally they let me know that i dont have any ppi on this account because if i had ppi, a separate payment would have been taken from my account every month, eventhough on the agreement copy it is shown that one payment would be taken monthly and the ppi amount is stated included in that monthly direct debit.
they have sent me a good will gesture cheque of 25 quid.
what shall i do, i think they are not fair, i had another ppi claim with another company and it was settled quickly, they never said i should have had seperate direct debit amount for the ppi taken from me every month?
shall i write to blackhorse and ask to reconsider and dont cash the cheque or write to FOS? thanks in advance.

Twr, they say that it should have been 2 payments coming out of my account, the second one being ppi direct debit. but it was only one direct debit and on my copy of agreement there are 2 amounts and blackhorse was deducting the total amount from me shown on agreement.
how can i point it to them, they already know that ppi is in the total amount.
i dont want to go to 3rd party for a small amount but i feel they are not going to give in .
Please, please don't go to a 3rd party. You are just throwing money away, mk.
Just go to the FOS website and fill out their questionnaire. Send it along with copies of any other paperwork you have and an explanation of what has happened in the past. Don't cash the cheque as that could be tantamount to you accepting what they are saying.
The FOS will get to the bottom of it and it make take some time, but you have got nothing to lose by waiting.

thanks chrissa, i will do that, i really do not want 3rd party involved, so i will not write to blackhorse and go straight to Fos or should i let them know that im going to the ombdusman?
I guess it wouldn't do any harm, mk. Good luck.
I'd write to the bank rejecting their offer and tell them you are going to FOS. The FOS process does take a while - the cases are looked at twice by separate arbiters, to see if they can be resolved, before they actually go to the head honcho at FOS. They do tell you what's going on, though.
Good luck - no no no to 3rd party - you will still have to fill in the same form if you go through them and they will charge you and take up to 30% + VAT of any payout you get.

The Ombudsman now looks at the suitability of the policy to your circumstances
Sorry for my late reply Mk, You can, I've done it, hold your corner & do NOT GIVE IN, they want people to do that, Sod them they have your money, tell them that YOU WILL GET IT BACK, good luck to you but whatever you do, DO NOT CASH THAT CHEQUE.
