Splicing Wire.

Greetings....
Number two child has just managed to snap the wire to the Christmas lights [shut in the window at the wrong angle].
Can these wires just be spliced like you would on colour coded wires? It's a really long string of led lights so I can't really afford to replace them.... theres just loads of little bronze coloured wires.

I should add that there are two separate black wires [with the little bronze wires inside], does it matter which one goes to which as they are not marked differently in any way :0/

Whislt it should be possible in principle I have to say these LED versinos have amultitude of wires thjat makes it difficult to work out what goes where. When someone who will remain anonymous was clipping their garden plants and cut through a similar cable I offered to try to fix it, but gave up in the end.

LEDs must be wired 'the right way round' in order for them to work. The good news though is that wiring them the 'wrong' way won't do any damage.

Connect them up and see if the lights work. If they don't, simply reverse the connections. Easy peasy!

Honestly I feel like giving up sometimes.

Try to do a bit of forensic work to find out which pairs of ends go together, it may be worth the trouble. Although the wires may look identical, close inspection may reveal subtle differences such as grooves or ridges from the extrusion process during manufacture.

If you have to buy another one because you can't fix it then try to get an identical one so that you can copy the connections, then you will have 2!
