Orchestra Music On Computers

I have just watched the Harry Connick jnr. Concert on Broadway on sky arts 2. And note that it appears that each musician has a computer screen with his music on it. Is this the future for orchestras and will it mean future concert pianists will not need a page turner?

Can anyone advise me what the position is and in time will all the classics be on screen.

Hello nice sax. Sheet music will probably go the same way as books. I know it is saving rainforests but it is a shame. I saw HCJ in 2007 at the Royal Albert Hall and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

iPads on a stand are the favourite right now. Change the page just with a quick touch of the screen.

In the jazz world, a lot of players use the iRealBook. It's the ipad version of the printed RealBooks. It gives players instant access to leadsheets.

Classical concert pianists rarely use a music score at all. They are expected to know the piece without reference to written music.
