Why not just install AdBlock, if you're getting no joy/response?

I'm on IE, I don't really notice the ads, I don't know why they bother some people.

Boxy, the only time that ads bother me is when they slow the PC down to the point that I cant type anything, that is the crux of the problem.

as boxy says, the Ed always seems to respond to posts in Editor's Blog, not so much in this subsection
