Very many thanks to you all - I would never have thought of Wardour Street. Could someone explain the reasoning behind 17a's answer? I can see flit from F+lit, but where does the moon come in? I'm obviously a bit dimmer than usual tonight!

enlightenment can simply mean the act of shining light on, and the moonlight is quite poor/scant compared to the sunlight
