Why is it that if you drop magnesiuk ribbon inot acid, the greater the length of acid, the greater the energy released? i mean, i know its cos there is more magnesium but is there some big scientific thing or is that it?

The longer the acid, the further it has to swim, thus using up more energy.

The longer the magnesium ribbon, the greater its mass. As the enthalpy change for chemical reactions are fixed in constant conditions, more energy is released.
