I was watching the England v Liechtenstein match on the box last night and when they sung the national anthems Liechtensteins was sung to the tune of God save our queen why?

Liechtenstein, needing an anthem, listened to the competition to see what what required. And of all of them, they liked ours so much, they decided to use it themselves. With only 32,000 inhabitants (and several of them already busy being footballers) the pool of available Anthem-writing talent was understandably shallow.

I like Billy Connolly's idea that we should dump our dirge in favour of the much jauntier theme-tune from 'The Archers'! Then Liechtenstein would be welcome to sole ownership of the other one.
As a matter of interest, I understand that the ruler of that Principality would actually be King of Britain if the Stuart dynasty were ever to be restored to their rightful throne. So, he could have the anthem and the nation!
