Adrenaline, I'd imagine.

When you're excited, your body releases adrenaline which makes the heart rush, also in a similar way your heart beats stupidly fast when you're feeling dread, like in a breakup situation. Making your feel wierd where your heart is.

It's actually quite complex, interesting, exciting and scary what happens to you when you fall in love. The scary part is that how ever much you think and want to be in control of your feelings, there are some things you simply can not control . . .
