fed up with Christmas before it even arrives? I am not ,honestly, a miserable old bat but am totally fed up with the in" your face" commercialism of the event. For example TV,shops, newspapers , glossy mags.
What ever happened to the family relaxing ,fun time?

Looks like I'm in the minority, but I LOVE it, it's always been magical to me and more so now I have a child of my own. The only thing I will agree with though is that it starts in September, that is a BIT too early !
I will be glad when its over it comes round far to quickly big build up then couple of days its over bit like when you spend ages preparing and cooking the dinner and its gobbled up in seconds, a nice idea would be if xmas came round every other year maybe
^ not for me it wouldn't !
Love the pun fs "gobbled up"
Oh and my family and friends love it too - you miseries !
I don't understand why people think it's stressful. It's not. Asda has just brought the food and everything can be bought over the Internet. Some people just make work for themselves.
I must be the odd one out, like to cook a special meal on christmas day, enjoy choosing and giving gifts and sending cards, enjoy decorating, enjoy spending time with my (small) family. I like christmas TV, cheesy movies and old films, cold leftovers and chilling out. I miss like mad the loved ones I can't share it with any more.

I ignore the ads and so one, the unrealistic expectations and the commercial razz, its not difficult.
ha ha Rah for us Christmas lovers!
I'm another in the "We Love Christmas" camp, I adore it. As woofy says it's as easy or as difficult as you make it. It's not like you don't know when it's coming, if you're not prepared for it, you've only yourself to blame.

So there!

;-)
Got your clothes on yet Boo?

haha, yeah shoota, sat watching horse jumping in my fleece, all toasty now :-)
I quite enjoy it too. Not eactly the same since our baby turned 30, but I haven't turned into Scrooge yet.

You might even find some Christmas wishes in your email, B00.
I quite like the pig-out dinner and sweeties, I used to love the boxing day hunt (when it actually was a hunt) or shoot, everything else I am completely indifferent to and wouldn't miss if it disappeared.
Shame Boo, was just on my way round ;-)
I used to love Christmas until people went mental three or months before the day. Commercialism has wrecked it for traditionalists and those who have latched on to that and get in debt for it have made it into a farce. If only we could turn back the clock and prepare for Christmas as we used to. Saving for goodies and giving people one gift that they appreciated without the giver having to get a loan to pay for presents. Too late and I for one will be glad when the (now) farce is over. However, Merry Christmas to those who like me, mourn the passing of how it used to be.
Chistmas is pretty much as it has always been, with noise, licentiousness, drink and gift giving

Was going to put pardon the pun daftgrandad
Well done Christmas-lovers for your answers which challenge my view and others.
I still believe it has become far too commercialised like most of life these days. It's about grab the money and run.
I am an atheist and have watched Money and TV "celebraties" become the new gods and to hell with religions which are a nice set of fairy-tales although I prefer Hans Christian Andersen.
Nope I'm not a misery-monger (I hope) and will act out my obligatory cheerful manner.
But that apart, Christmas-lovers I welcome your posts and know you will enjoy the season. Well done for bucking the trend!
A happy seasonal holiday to all subscribers.
Luv,
SIQ.

Have already p-ed off several younger members of family by announcing all gift-giving will be in form of donation to Sally Army. Oh how they fumed! I concer totally with you Brenda: return to simple home-based happiness. Celebrate each other, have a splendid meal, sit round the fire and tell ghost stories.
