On a serious note, it gives one food for thought when you read this from the BBC Live Weather Update blog:

Joanna Bell, a senior sister at the Grange Nursing Home near Basingstoke told the BBC they have been without power since Monday. They have 26 very elderly residents, ranging from 72 to 101 years old, who aren't able to get out of bed because they have no heating. The home is appealing for anyone nearby to help them, possibly with gas heaters.
Modern Britain eh? Makes you proud!
We can give away millions to developing countries or others struck by disaster but can't sort out our own infrastructure with what is becoming an annual, often twice-yearly event.
