we recently stayed in a hotel were i tripped over a wire in our bedroom and broke my hand, on paying my bill on departure nothing was said re the small hole i made in the wall when i tripped, since returning home the hotel have withdrawn 250 against my debit card saying the money is to pay for the damage. is this allowed?
No, you should sue them for causing you to break your hand. The amount charged probably exceeds the cost of repairing it and you should have complained at the time.
There'll be a section in their terms and conditions that allow them to ask for the cost of repair for any breakages, but I would certainly consult a personal injury lawer and sue them for your broken hand.
a warning that you will drag their name though the mud due to health and safety flaws in the company, will make them reconsider and hopefully give you your money back. I would also take them to the cleaners mate. Breakage of a hand!....loss of earnings, etc etc. I would sue.
