With New Year occurring at a weekend, th Stock Exchange was closed on Friday 31st Dec 1999, and re-opened on 4th Jnuary, 2000. The FTSE Index for those dates is shown here, hope this helps...

I'm not sure whether you meant to do a search or ask a question but the nearest date I can find is 4th January 2000 (maybe markets were shut for a weekend and of course would be shut on New Year's Day)
